Qld: Drowned man was naval officer
A body recovered from a notoriously dangerous swimming spot in far north Queensland
has been identified as that of naval officer JAMES BENNETT.
The 23-year-old Tasmanian was last seen alive on Sunday afternoon when he jumped into
Devil's Pool at The Boulders near Babinda.
He never resurfaced.
Sub-Lieutenant BENNETT was serving on the Huon-class minehunter HMAS Norman.
In the past 50 years around 17 people have drowned at Devil's Pool.
