SA:New policing teams for Adealide

ADELAIDE, Aug 9 AAP - South Australian police will deploy eight new neighbourhood policing
teams from Monday in a bid to combat local crime and disorder.

The teams, each consisting of five officers, will be deployed in Adelaide's southern
and northern suburbs.

Assistant Commissioner Grant Stevens said the concept of dedicating police officers
to specific suburbs will allow them to better engage with the local community to reduce
offending.

"This concept provides an opportunity for specific communities to develop stronger
relationships with their local police," Mr Stevens said.

"This already occurs in country police stations where the local community is able to
get to know their police and there is generally a high level of interaction between local
officers and the community."

The new police teams will be in addition to existing police numbers across Adelaide.
