NSW: Protesters expose gaps in NSW security, says Opposition

The New South Wales Opposition says a protest which halted a warship heading to thePersian Gulf today highlights concerns with the government's counter-terrorism strategy.

A peace protester attached himself to the bow of HMAS Sydney this morning and unfurleda No-War banner, while another attached herself to the stern as the vessel sailed throughSydney Harbour.

Twelve people were arrested, and Greens MP IAN COHEN was apprehended by police as hepaddled his surfboard in the path of the guided missile frigate.

Opposition police spokesman PETER DEBNAM says the protest, as well as the NO WAR sloganpainted on the Sydney Opera House last month, raise doubts about the government's securitymeasures.
